Neuro-Ophthalmologic Aspect of Neuromuscular Junction Disorders
Song Hyun-Seok

Abstract
This is a review about the several neuromuscular junction disorders that particularly have neuro-opthalmologic importance. After brief summary about the structure and function of neuromuscular junction, we touch the presynaptic disorders such as botulism and Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome. Myasthenia gravis (MG), a typical postsynaptic neuromuscular junction disorder has a variety of ocular motor manifestations such as ptosis, lid twitch sign, diplopia, and saccadic abnormalities. Oculographic measurement before and during actetylcholinesterase inhibitors (edrophonium, neostigmine, and pyridostigmine) is important test to differentiate MG from another diseases affecting ocular motility.
